Port Jefferson Country Club Cold Storage Facility Breaks Ground
Port Jefferson, NY (March 31, 2011) We are pleased to announce the Cost Storage/ Maintenance Facility project at the Port Jefferson Country Club golf course has recently broken ground with the erection of the steel frame where the cold storage building is located in the southeast corner of the site. Although delayed for several years due to incomplete site plan specifications and environment concerns, the project now moves forward with an unconditional site plan approval and environmental cleanup efforts under way.
Under the direction of our new Greens Superintendent, Brian MacMillan, the project will be completed in stages with the Cold Storage scheduled for completion by May 1st. The greens crew will then receive new equipment for the golf course purchase under a recent bid proposal awarded to LaCourt Equipment and approved by the Board of Trustees at the end of February. The new equipment consists of a John Deere tractor, greens and fairway mowers, utility carts, etc.; replacing an old and outdated fleet to insure that the golf course greens, fairway and tees are maintained as meticulously as possible. Overall completion of the project is scheduled for winter 2011/12 when the new maintenance facility is targeted to be completed.
MacMillan adds, “The Cold Storage/Maintenance Facility will allow us to store our newly purchased equipment in an organized manner, leading to better efficiency of maintenance on the golf course.”
